Worcester Wolves coach Paul James has praised BBL Championship winners Newcastle Eagles for their performances this season, saying ‘they never think they are beaten’.
James’ team have now completed their regular season, sitting 2nd to Newcastle as thing stand and they recently lost an epic match 85-84 to the BBL Championship winners.
The Worcester coach is far from a bad loser though and insists that the Eagles deserve their title for being consistently the best side throughout the course of the campaign.
Speaking exclusively to bblfans.com, he said: “Without question, they deserve it. They are very well driven by Fab [Flournoy] and he certainly makes them perform to the standards he expects of them.”
“They have got this never say side attitude. They never think they are beaten and they play until the very end. It’s great to play games against them. They play the game in the right way and they deserve to be where they are.”
“They have done the job all season long after changing one or two players from last year. They deserve to be there.”
James is aware of how good his team have been this season though, saying that he has been delighted in the improvements made since finishing 9th in the BBL last year.
He continued: “We have had the best development of any team in the BBL. From where we were, we have done an absolutely amazing job.”
“If it wasn’t for Newcastle, we would probably be the team of the year, but I am really delighted with how the players have performed.”
As for how much success Worcester can have in the play-off games to come, James says that ‘anything is possible’ at this stage of the season.
“Whoever we are playing, we will be ready for them. Hopefully we can come out firing.”
