Wolves were spurred on by Love comments

Worcester Director of Basketball Paul James revealed he used comments made by Plymouth play-caller Gavin Love as inspiration for their 100-80 win at the weekend.

Worcester Director of Basketball Paul James revealed he used comments made by Plymouth play-caller Gavin Love as inspiration for their 100-80 win at the weekend.

The Wolves put the in-form Raiders to the sword to consolidate their second place berth in the BBL, and denied Plymouth the chance to stay within range of Newcastle at the top.

James said: “It was a fantastic performance, we really played hard. Their coach went in the press saying they like coming here, so we had a point to prove, and that’s just what we did.”

Plymouth went in to the match having won three of the previous five meetings between the two this season, including the decisive game in the BBL Cup semi-final tie between the pair.

Love commented pre-match: “We like playing at Worcester having beaten them there twice this season by 20 plus points, if we can replicate that kind of form it will be a good game.”

Small forward Tommy Freeman took that motivation to win to the next level, racking up an incredible 40 points for the Wolves, supported by David Watts (18) and Sherrad Prezzie-Blue (17).
