Wolves edge out Rocks, no stopping Newcastle

Newcastle’s charge to the BBL Championship title shows no signs of slowing down, while Worcester also won on Saturday night in the BBL.

Newcastle’s charge to the BBL Championship title shows no signs of slowing down, as they dispatched of Durham 97-82 on Saturday night.

Joe Chapman landed 24 points and was supported by the excellent Paul Gause with 22, as the Eagles landed 18 of 21 from the free throw line.

The Wildcats, as ever, battled bravely and led 25-24 at the end of the first quarter but once Chapman fired the visitors in front at 28-27, there was no looking back.

In Worcester, a three-pointer from David Watts with 25 seconds left on the clock fired the Wolves to a hard fought 64-61 win over Glasgow.

The Rocks pushed the high-flying hosts all the way, with player-coach Sterling Davis top scoring for the Scots.

There wasn’t much between the two sides on the stats sheet, but the Wolves just about held on in a low scoring final quarter.
