Title out of reach, says Love

Plymouth coach Gavin Love has admitted the BBL Championship title is now out of reach, following their defeat to Newcastle last weekend.

Plymouth coach Gavin Love has admitted the BBL Championship title is now out of reach, following their defeat to Newcastle last weekend.

The 103-94 overtime loss at Pavilions on Friday to the league leaders was compounded by Sunday’s defeat at lowly Guildford, which leaves the Raiders 14 points behind the Eagles, albeit with three games in hand.

Plymouth have already lost one piece of silverware, the BBL Cup, to the Eagles this season, but they will have the chance to gain revenge in the BBL Trophy final later this month.

Love said: “The title is out of reach now, I think, but our goals of being a top four team are still realistic so we are concentrating on that now.”

Both Glasgow and Sheffield have found some form in recent weeks to close the gap on 4th placed Plymouth, although the south coast team do have four and two games in hand respectively.

The Raiders have a north east double this weekend, as they take on Newcastle on Friday and Durham on Saturday.
