Tigers captain makes BBL Team of the Week

Mersey Tigers have their first representation in the BBL Team of the Week this season, with David Aliu selected in Week 9.

Aliu top scored for the champions as they picked up their first league win of the 2011/12 campaign, over the Durham Wildcats.

There are a few familiar faces around him, with team of the week regulars Ayron Hardy (Leicester) and Mychal Green (Glasgow) included once again.

There’s a place for last year’s MVP Jeremy Bell, who bounced back from a dismal display at Newcastle on Friday night to lead the way in Plymouth’s victory over Durham the following night.

Making up the quintet is Leicester’s Brett Royster, who enjoys his first appearance in the selection. Royster joined the Riders on the eve of the season alongside Drew Sullivan, and has had an often understated impact in the Riders’ climb to the higher echelons of the BBL.

Team: Jeremy Bell (Plymouth), Mychal Green (Glasgow), Ayron Hardy (Leicester), David Aliu (Mersey), Brett Royster (Leicester).

Bench: Bradd Wierzbicki (Leicester), Mario Flaherty (Durham), Demarius Bolds (MK Lions), Paul Elderkin (Durham), Paul Gause (Newcastle), Ralph Bucci (Durham), Daniel Northern (MK Lions)
