The BBL Week in Words

In the second addition of our new feature, we look back at the last week in the BBL and bring you the best and most memorable quotes. This could be from the club themselves, players, pundits or coaches.

All being well, this is going to be a regular feature on BBLFans, so let us know if you have heard some interesting thoughts from someone so they can feature here next time.

This week, Newcastle Eagles coach Fab Flournoy criticises the two-leg feature of the BBL Trophy Final, Vince Macaulay wants a trophy for MK Lions this season and Joe Chapman discusses his future in the BBL!

“As long as the officials let both teams play, it’s going to be great for the fans and a great advertisement for the BBL. It is going to be a good contest between two tough teams.” Plymouth Raiders coach Gavin Love has high hopes for Sunday’s BBL Trophy Final against the Newcastle Eagles

“We need to stop them when they go on a run, but we want this Trophy pretty badly. They took the Cup and it looks like they’ve taken the league, so we really want this one.” Plymouth captain Anthony Rowe echoes the thoughts of his coach

“I understand why it’s two-leg, but I’d rather it was a one-off or a best-of-three tie. But we know the situation, and we have to deal with it.” – Newcastle Eagles player-coach Fab Flournoy isn’t a massive fan of the two-leg BBL Trophy final system

“I’m alright here right now. It was always one of my goals to try and win trophies and medals with Newcastle so I wanted to stay for this season. Honestly, though, I could play anywhere. I don’t really have a preference for the country – I just want to win silverware.” Joe Chapman discusses his future with the Newcastle Eagles

“We’ve tried to make a couple of adjustments offensively this week to put ourselves in a little bit of a better position, but the guys know they have to go out there, trust their ability and make some shots.” Leicester Tigers coach Rob Paternostro knows what his team need to do against Newcastle on Friday evening

“We need to win something, and the only thing left for us to win is the play-offs – so that’s what we’ll be trying to do. We have a team capable of great things but of course we need to win something.” – MK Lions chief executive Vince Macaulay has bit ambitions for his team in the remainder of the season
