Drew Sullivan has described leading the Team Great Britain Basketball team in to London 2012 as the highlight of his career.

“It is the biggest honour I could receive and is the highlight of my career.

“To be picked is incredible but to be captain is extremely hard to put into words.”

As a youngster Sullivan was born and bred in London and attended the Hackney Community College Basketball Academy sessions organised by Basketball legend Joe White.

“I was born and grew up in London, which makes it, if possible, extra special to me.

“The sport hasn’t been represented in the games since 1948 and to lead the team for the occasion is incredible.”

However Sullivan’s next challenge will come on the 18^th July when Team Great Britain will host USA All-stars in Manchester and Drew will be facing off against the likes of Kobe Bryant and Lebron James.

The Great Britain Captain has the belief that his side have the ability to cause an upset against the NBA giants.

“When we have to play the USA team we will come together and be a team.”

Sullivan, 31, currently plays for Leicester and finished second in the British Basketball League to Newcastle Eagles and also lost in the Play-Off Final to the Eagles.

Sullivan began his career in the USA with St. Augustine Prep and the Villanova Wildcats. He has played in the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Russia and Cyprus before playing in the BBL with the Newcastle Eagles, Mersey Tigers and the Leicester Riders.
