SKY Sports TV boost for BBL

The British Basketball League has received the boost with the news that SKY Sports will once again broadcast games in the 2011/12 season.

The British Basketball League has received the boost with the news that SKY Sports will once again broadcast games in the 2011/12 season.

There will be a selection of live games, as well as games televised “as live” on Tuesday evenings throughout the season, in partnership with Televideo.

BBL Chairman Paul Blake said: “”Last season’s coverage was extremely well received throughout the sport and we are delighted to extend our relationship with Sky Sports into a second season. The coverage last term provided an excellent platform for BBL to showcase our exciting product and with the addition of more Live games this season, we have even higher expectations”.

The Managing Director of Televideo Paul Scivill commented, “We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with the BBL. We are extremely excited about this season’s coverage and the addition of more Live games to the schedule”.

The planned initial set of games to be shown, with transmission dates, are as follows:

Glasgow Rocks v Sheffield Sharks (BBL Championship) – Tue 15/11/11 (AS LIVE)
Sheffield Sharks v Leicester Riders (BBL Championship) – Tue 22/11/11 (AS LIVE)
LIVE MK Lions v Worcester Wolves (BBL Championship) – Tue 29/11/11
Guildford Heat v Worcester Wolves (BBL Championship) Tue 06/12/11 (AS LIVE)
LIVE Cup Semi Final – 2nd Leg (BBL Cup) Tue 13/12/11
Plymouth Raiders v Glasgow Rocks (BBL Championship) – Tue 20/12/11 (AS LIVE)
Milton Keynes v Newcastle Eagles (BBL Championship) – Tue 10/01/12 (AS LIVE)
