Shingles cut by Guildford

Guildford coach Creon Raftopoulos continues to ring the changes at the Surrey Sports Park, with the surprise release of American point-guard Brandon Shingles.

Guildford coach Creon Raftopoulos continues to ring the changes at the Surrey Sports Park, with the surprise release of American point-guard Brandon Shingles.

Shingles, 24, arrived in the summer and made his debut against Worcester on October 1st.

Raftopoulos told the club’s official website: “It’s a shame to have to let Brandon go, but things have not worked out as we’d hope. Brandon’s a great player but you need chemistry between your point guard and the rest of the team and unfortunately it wasn’t there. The style of play that I want didn’t fit in with Brandon’s game and he also struggled to make the adjustments to the referees over here.

“I’m looking at a number of possible replacements for Brandon and hope to be able to announce a new signing soon.”

Raftopoulos has time to find a replacement courtesy of the fixture schedule, which means the Heat are without a game until December 4th.
