Raiders head coach Gavin Love will hope he can carry his team onto another level after a decent fifth place finish last year in the BBL Championship.
Love’s team showed a steady improvement throughout last season after making some early changes. He will look to start stronger this year, as he has retained most of the key players that helped him achieve that excellent finish. 6”7 forward Lehmon Colbert Jr. was the first to put pen to paper after a brilliant rookie season, averaging 15 points per game whilst shooting over 60 percent in success rate.
Team Captain Anthony Rowe also re-joined. The 6”8 forward has been with the club since the age of 13 and was more than happy to express his loyalty by signing a new contract. The Raiders captured key forward Paul Williams from the Sheffield Sharks who averaged 13 points and 9 rebounds per game in the shark’s successful campaign. Also, Colbert Jr. will be reunited with his former college teammate from Jacksonville University, which will sure make an interesting lineup. The dynamic duo of Colbert and Smith proved to be the most dominant partnership in the university’s history combining for a total of 3400 points.
Fan favourite Anthony Martin will return to lead from the backcourt but can he lead the Raiders to the playoffs again this season?
