The BBL is proud to welcome a new, exciting and growing side this season in the Durham Wildcats. The Wildcats enter the top tier after finishing seventh in their debut EBL division one campaign.
But, as the new boys have been preparing for their first game in the top flight, coach Dave Elderkin has been a very busy man. He has arguably grabbed one of bargains of the season after securing the signature of Ralph Bucci. The 35 year-old Italian- American returned to England last year after a spell in the Greek league, lighting up scoreboards at EBL clubs all over the country with the Tee Valley Mohawks. He dominated Division Two as the leading scorer averaging just less than 33 points per game along with impressive stats in rebounding and steals. His scoring numbers are not surprising with a shooting success rate of nearly 60 percent.
Elderkin has retained most of the squad that powered through the lower ranks of the EBL with his sons, Paul and Mark both re-signed. Also returning after a year away is Greek player Notis Chalkidis and big man Liam O’Mahoney flying back from a term in Spain. These players along with some successful sharp shooters should make up an impressive debut for the Wildcats.
