Riders see off Jets to reach last four

Leicester Riders dominated the Cheshire Jets in a 95-74 success for Rob Paternostro’s team at the Northgate Arena, as they complete the Cup semi final slots.

The Riders will now play the Newcastle Eagles to compete for the first BBL prize at the NIA, Birmingham in the New Year. The other semi final sees the Worcester Wolves take on the Plymouth Riders.

Cheshire’s Adam Brown and Leicester point guard Cameron Rundles shared the top scoring honours with 24 points each. Drew Sullivan also had a satisfactory performance as he collected 19 points at a 67 percent shooting success.

The Jets’ Bill Cole seems to be adjusting to new life in the BBL as he grabbed a season high double double of 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The two sides were inseparable after the first ten minutes finishing the first quarter level on 24-24.

The Riders pushed on in the second quarter with Rundles orchestrating a 17-4 scoring streak. Rundles scored eight points to put his team well ahead at the break with the score at 38-52.

The Jets battled valiantly to try and restore parity but the Riders intensified their offence to enjoy the biggest lead of the night at 69-93.

Paternostro’s men were comfortably in front with one minute left on the clock and were deservedly through to the BBL Cup final four.
