Riders Run Rampant On Wolves

The Leicester Riders came from behind and  put on an excellent second half display to overcome the Worcester Wolves with an emphatic 99-75 victory in Worcestershire.

Cameron Rundles stole the show with a stellar double double performance of 29 points and 11 rebounds.  the home side had the best of the early exchanges running in an 11-6 surge. But the lead didnt last long as Leicester’s Bradd Wierzbicki who finished with 23 points scored five points in quick succession to tie the game. Worcester’s Tommy Freeman and Ritchie Gordon then took over as their scoring put the Wolves in front by 27-23 at the end of the first period.

Arnas Kazlauskas put the work in for the Wolves in the second quarter, scoring basket after basket to maintain the lead at 45-34. Wierzbicki then trimmed the deficit to five at halftime sinking two back to back three pointers to take the score to 45-40.

The Riders then turned it around in the second half as they intensified the defence to restrict the home side to only nine points in the third quarter. The comeback was spearheaded by Rundles who hit shots from all angles for the Riders to take the lead at 64-54. Wierzbicki then hit two from the freethrow line heading into the final stanza.

Rob Paternostro’s Riders took no prisoners as they continued their fine run with an 18-7 burst. Gordon led a short fight back from the Wolves but it was too late for them to recover as the Riders closed out the win with ease.
