Riders appoint Mark Jarram as assistant coach

Leicester Riders have announced Mark Jarram as their assistant coach to Rob Paternostro’s senior team.

Jarram was a part of the Leicester Riders Colts junior programme before moving to study Sports Coaching Science at the University of Worcester. He spent three seasons as player-assistant coach for the university’s basketball team as they won the 2009 BUCS Championship.

He spent three years at Bard College in New York as assistant coach to the NCAA Division three team, and has been the director of basketball at Camp Scatico in New York state.

Jarram said: “I’m very humbled to be offered this position and be involved in this growing program. I’m a huge believer in that you never stop learning and being a young coach I’ll be making the most of this opportunity to learn as much as possible. I am also looking forward to bringing the knowledge and experience that I’ve already gained in order to try and help make an impact this year and assist Rob in all areas.

“It’s a new level of basketball for me and one that I know will be a huge part of my personal development. It’s going to be great working under coach Rob with a different style to what I’m used to and an unarguable passion for winning. I’m very impressed with the group of players that has been assembled this year and excited to work with these guys throughout the season.”
