Raiders likely to lose Paul Williams

Plymouth coach Gavin Love fears he will lose centre Paul Williams to Europe.

Plymouth coach Gavin Love fears he will lose centre Paul Williams to Europe.

Williams, 29, was a key member of the Raiders team that appeared in both the BBL Cup and BBL Trophy finals last season, and has been offered a new one-year deal to return to Pavilions.

However, he is believed to have received lucrative offers from clubs in Japan and Turkey, and Love looks set to miss out.

Love told the Plymouth Herald: “Players often claim they have a lot of options during the summer, but Paul really does.

“He had such a good year with us, we might not be able to compete with offers from teams in for him. I wouldn’t begrudge him taking one of them.”

Williams, formerly with Sheffield Sharks, was named in the BBL Team of the Year after averaging 11.8 rebounds and 15.9 points per game.

Guard Drew Lasker and forwards Colin O’Reilly and Anthony Rowe are the only confirmed names on Plymouth’s roster for 2012/13 to date.
