Raiders building momentum

Plymouth Raiders proved they will be a match for any team in this season’s BBL Cup as they progressed to the last four at the weekend.

The Raiders picked up only their third win over Sheffield Sharks in 14 matches since they joined the BBL, winning 85-83 at EIS Sheffield to knock-out last year’s winners of the competition.

Gavin Love’s men will face either Mersey Tigers or Worcester Wolves in the semi-finals, and have now put on a run of four consecutive away victories.

He said: “We’ve won four out of four now on the road, which is great. That shows the experience on the team this year and how far we’ve come.

“We knew it was going to be very tough, but we also knew there was a semi-final place at stake.”

The Raiders now have 10 days off before they play Milton Keynes on Wednesday week.

Love added: “We’ve got a break now, which is unfortunate, because we want to maintain this momentum, but we’re going to practice hard this week and stay focused.

“Friday was the best we’ve played this season and hopefully we’ll get better. We still have a mile to go to where we want to be, but right now I’m pleased with where we are.”
