Plymouth sign up Rowe and Lasker

Plymouth Raiders have made their first two signings of the summer after both Drew Lasker and Anthony Rowe put pen to paper on one-year deals.

Plymouth Raiders have made their first two signings of the summer after both Drew Lasker and Anthony Rowe put pen to paper on one-year deals.

Last year’s Raiders captain Rowe is the beginning of Plymouth coach Gavin Love’s well documented plan to keep together the majority of the successful side he was in charge of in the last BBL campaign and the signing of Drew Lasker from Guildford Heat backs up Love’s claim that Plymouth need to strengthen their squad in order to compete in 2013.

Rowe could not hide his delight at re-signing for his hometown club, telling thisisplymouth.co.uk: “I am really pleased to be offered a new contract for next season – and obviously I snapped it up.

“Everybody knows what this club means to me and that as a Plymouth boy, just how much the support of our fans at the Pavilions mean to me.

“Normally, as in common with most basketball players at this time of year, I would wait to see if anyone else was interested in me.

“But when coach said ‘we want you to sign again’ I really had no hesitation in saying ‘yes’ to him.”

Coach Gavin Love said of the deal: “I am absolutely delighted that Anthony has agreed to sign up again for us next season.

“Anthony is a Plymouth lad and is as honest as the day is long and is as determined as me to take Raiders to new heights next year.”

Love also spoke of the signing of fans favourite Drew Lasker, who will be embarking on a third spell at Plymouth.

He said: “I’m really pleased to announce the signing of Drew Lasker for Raiders.

“Perhaps I should I say the re-signing of Drew as I know he’s a big favourite with our fans.

“And with good reason, as we all know what he brings to the table: excitement, intelligence and a lot of great basketball.”
