Pearce says Riders are serious title contenders

Durham guard Chris Pearce rates the Leicester roster as one of the best in the BBL, as his side prepare to face the Riders on Saturday.

With an impressive roster containing Great Britain captain Drew Sullivan, in-form Ayron Hardy and Cameron Rundles, the Riders have cemented themselves in the top echelons of the BBL table.

Pearce and his team-mates saw first hand the strength in depth that Rob Paternostro boasts when they were demolished 97-64 before Christmas.

Pearce said: “We played them last month, and they are one of the deepest, if not the deepest team in the league, with GB international Flinder Boyd coming off the bench in that game. Their league record speaks for itself; they are serious title contenders.”

“Cameron Rundles proved a really tough match up for us last time around, ably supported by Ayron Hardy and Bradd Wierzbicki. They are all huge scoring threats, as is their centre Brett Royster.”

Meanwhile, Leicester’s Barry Lamble will go in to the game needing just one block to reach 100 in the BBL, and needs 14 more points to reach the thousand mark.
