Leicester coach Rob Paternostro believes Mersey Tigers play-caller Tony Garbelotto is one of the best the league has ever seen.
Garbelotto guided the Tigers to a treble of league, trophy and play-offs last season, but after a summer of turmoil, lost all but one of his champion team.
It has resulted in a difficult start to the season for the Tigers, which has seen them pick up just one win so far.
Their latest defeat came at the hands of Leicester on Saturday, going down 92-63 at the John Sandford Centre, but they were well in the game at the half time break.
Paternostro told the Riders’ official website: “I think that all credit needs to go to Tony Garbelotto and their team.
“They’re down in numbers, but they had a good plan in how to frustrate us and that is why I consider him to be one of the best coaches that the league has ever had. He has an ability no matter what.”
