Newcastle wait for Gause verdict

Newcastle are once again sweating on the fitness of point-guard Paul Gause, after he picked up a hamstring injury at the weekend.

Newcastle are once again sweating on the fitness of point-guard Paul Gause, after he picked up a hamstring injury at the weekend.

Coach Fab Flournoy has already ruled him out of the weekend’s games against Guildford and Worcester, and will hope that the forthcoming Christmas break will give time for the American to cover.

Gause, 25, pulled up in last weekend’s win at Mersey Tigers, at a time when he looked likely to top the scorers with 14 points inside the first 12 minutes.

An earlier injury had seen Gause miss a handful of games in the cup competitions, but he has managed 91 points in seven league games for the Eagles so far this season, after making his debut against Glasgow back in September.
