The treble winning Newcastle Eagles will be looking to start the party on Friday night as Fab and the team are presented with the BBL Championship Cup and medals after their tie with Mersey Tigers at Sport Central.

The Eagles became unreachable at the top of the table following UCP Marjon Plymouth Raider’s loss to Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders on Wednesday night, taking the pressure away from the need for another win.

It is their fifth regular season title, and comes after a 2010/11 campaign which saw them finish without any silverware for the first time since 2004.

Eagles managing director Paul Blake paid tribute to his side: “I am very proud of what the team has achieved this year. They have had to dig deep and have won more close games than I can remember, but have managed to get over the line. It’s an amazing bounce back following last season and I am very pleased for Fab, the team and most importantly the supporters.”
