Newcastle have signed American point guard Damon Huffman as a replacement for Paul Gause for next season.

Huffman, 27, played against the Eagles for Dutch side Landstede Zwolle in the Basketball Days challenge at Christmas, and Fab Flournoy made him their number one target.

Owner Paul Blake said: “Both Dave and Fab viewed Damon as a great option for us at some point in the future following the Holland tournament.

“We are very pleased to announce that we have been able to come to an agreement.”

Huffman averaged 11.6 points per game in 32 appearances for Zwolle.
