Mike Tuck made his mother proud with a terrific performance in Friday’s win over Mersey, which has helped him make the BBL Team of the Week.
She was in the crowd to watch her son for the first time for several years, and he put up a fantastic display, achieving a double double of 33 points and 14 rebounds. Unfortunately, he couldn’t repeat the heroics in Plymouth the night after, but the Tigers win helped consolidate the Sharks’ play-off spot.
Another stand out player against Mersey was guard Jimmy Langhurst, who produced a three-point shooting master-class, landing five from six attempts as he poured in 32 points.
There’s no stopping Newcastle, and this week it’s Paul Gause who makes the team selection. He put in back to back displays against Leicester and Durham, landing 22 points against the Wildcats, as the Eagles marched on at the top of the championship.
Mike Martin lands a rare spot for Guildford in the team of the week, thanks to his captain’s knock against Glasgow. A rout at the hands of Leicester had threatened to derail their play-off bid, but an 83-81 triumph over the Rocks was helped no end by Martin’s 24 points.
Wrapping up the team this week is Richie Gordon, who makes the line-up for the seventh time this season. He chalked up 26 points and 14 rebounds as he moves within two of team of the week season leader Ayron Hardy.
