More woe for Guildford in Glasgow

Glasgow added to Guildford’s woe as the Heat lost their 12th straight game and forward Mike Copeland to injury at Kelvin Hall.

Glasgow added to Guildford’s woe as the Heat lost their 12th straight game and forward Mike Copeland to injury at Kelvin Hall.

The visitors started well and were in the lead around the nine minute mark when Copeland went down following a collision with Deaundre Cranston clutching his knee, and it turned out to be a game ending injury, with the game stopped for more than ten minutes as the forward received treatment.

Although they went in to the first break 28-20 ahead, Copeland’s plight clearly had an effect on the Heat, and the Rocks soon clicked in to gear in the second quarter, with the recently crowned BBL Player of the Month Mychal Green landing five of his six shots in the second 10 minutes to give him 25 points before the half time break, putting his side 54-50 to the good.

Guildford re-grouped, and while they managed to contain Green in patches, they couldn’t stop Gareth Murray getting in on the act, and they were struggling to keep pace with Glasgow, flying high in the BBL table.

At the end of the third quarter, the home side led 80-72, and despite being outscored by their opponents in the fourth, Glasgow were able to hold on for their sixth league win of the season.

Green led all scorers with 32 points, while Tayo Ogedengbe led for the Heat with 22.
