Mission to save Jets continues

Cheshire Jets fans are hoping to repeat what happened to the club in 2007, and save it from extinction.

Cheshire Jets fans are hoping to repeat what happened to the club in 2007, and save it from extinction.

Supporters have met twice this week, with a small group now assembled to develop an action plan moving forward.

Current owner Pete Hawkins, who recently announced he was having to leave the club, is believed to be in on-going discussions with potential investors, with just four weeks to go until the new BBL season.

Back in 2007, then owner Mike Burton announced his retirement from the franchise after 19 years, before a group of fans formed a committee to help save the club, eventually landing a sponsorship deal with BiG Storage to save the club and preserve its future.

That has now gone full circle, and members of the original fans group that previously helped saved the club, have once again taken up the task to try and ensure the future of professional basketball in Cheshire.
