Medway Park Make the Play-Offs- EBL Round-up #4

Medway Park take the final play-off spot at the expense of Brixton and Leeds on the final weekend of the regular season in Division One.

Medway Park Crusaders eased to victory over the Teeside Valley Mohawks to claim eighth position at the expense of Leeds Carnegie and Brixton Topcats.

Medway Park knew victory would be enough to seal their place in the play-offs and they did so in style with an emphatic 112-60 home win. Brixton had an outside chance of making the post-season play-offs and despite two victories over bottom-placed, London Capitals, they fell short. The Topcats recorded an 82-65 success in midweek before finishing their season with a comfortable 110-69 win at home with Sam Toluwase adding a weekend high 39 points.

Leeds suffered an overtime defeat in Leicester to end their hopes before another defeat followed at home to the Reading Rockets. They had battled back from a 12 point deficit to force the extra period on Saturday but a 14-2 run from the Warriors gave them a 97-85 victory.

Reading had been beaten 77-73 on the road by Bradford on Saturday but set up a play-off showdown with Bristol with a marginal 59-58 win at Leeds. The Flyers had already secured second spot and finished the regular season with a routine 91-59 triumph over Capitals.

Worthing Thunder managed to cling on to third place despite going down 106-88 to the league champions as the Leopards made it 19 successive wins thanks to another 30 point haul from Vernon Teel. The second highest points scorer in the league, Rishi Kakad added a further 23 to his tally helping the Derby Trailblazers to a 93-83 win against the Westminster Warriors.
