The MK Lions moved up to fifth in the BBL Championship with a hard fought 86-75 victory over the Cheshire Jets at the Northgate Arena.

The MK Lions moved up to fifth in the BBL Championship with a hard fought 86-75 victory over the Cheshire Jets at the Northgate Arena.

The scoring was tied between the Lion’s Demarius Bolds and the Jets Bill Cole who both claimed impressive 29 point hauls.

Cheshire started the game on the front foot with a 10-2 surge that saw the home side take early advantage. Cheshire Captain Colin O’Reilly nailed a three pointer to extend his team’s lead into double digits at 21-11. But the Lions roared back into the game scoring 10 of the last 14 points to end the quarter trailing by 25-21.

John Lavery’s side lost control in the second quarter as the Lions scored a near enough unanswered 13 points to take the lead at 43-35 with two minutes remaining. The Lions remained in front at the break with the score at 47-39.

in the second half, both sides exchanged baskets for much of the third period but Lions maintained advantage going into the final period in front at 64-57.

An Adam Brown triple got the Jets’ engines running as they exploded with an 8-2 burst to start a fight back, cutting the lead to a single basket at 69-67 midway through the quarter. MK Lions ended any chance of a come back with a game winning 12-2 spur to claim the all important win.
