Lions begin life in capital with victory

London Lions defeated Team USA Select in 108-66 to get the newly rebranded franchise off to a winning start.

Orlan Jackman added 21 points for the Lions as they beat the US side at Crystal Palace. The crowd were treated to a double-header on Saturday evening as Essex Leopards defeated the rest of the USA Select squad 92-88.

And Lions coach Vince Macaulay was delighted with his side’s victory.

He said: “We’re happy to get our first win in London.

“The players were fired up to show they’re ready for BBL action, fans who travelled from Milton Keynes were really significant to the evening and I personally thank them for supporting us.

“On the floor there were a lot of pluses but we have a long way to go. Adrien Sturt was impressive, Orlan Jackman was electric, energising everyone, whilst Jordan Spencer’s 12 point, four assist performance shows what we also plan for young English players.”
