Leicester add Royster

Leicester have bolstered their title credentials with the signing of Brett Royster, who joins fellow new-boy Drew Sullivan on the Riders bench.

Royster, 22, hails from California and arrives in time for the final BBL Trophy group game against London Leopards and the BBL league opener against Cheshire Jets.

Head Coach Rob Paternostro told the club’s official website: “One of our weaknesses right now is protection of the basket. In our game against Milton Keynes, we were exposed on the inside. Paint protection and rim protection is what we needed and that’s what Brett has made his name doing.

“I think Brett is one of the best defensive big men around, I mean, he’s two time two time Sun Belt defensive player of the year. He’s set a record in that conference, he’s an athletic guy and we hope he can help us in that area.”

Royster is the club’s second signing on the eve of the league season, following on from the capture of Great Britain captain Drew Sullivan, who left Mersey Tigers last week.
