The Cheshire Jets are pleased to announce the addition of Australian Dan Briglia to their roster; Dan arrived in Chester on Wednesday to start training with the team ahead of a busy weekend.

Dan stands 6 ft 5 inches, and has dual Italian / Australian nationality. He played for the Essex Pirates last season and is touted as being able to play either as a shooting guard or a forward. He averaged 12.6 points per game in the BBL last year, pulled down 5.6 rebounds per game, shot 47.0% from the field including virtually 30% from beyond the arc, and over 80% from the free throw line.

Head coach John Lavery said: “I’m really pleased to have Dan on board he will bring such much needed support to our stretched playing resources. He is keen to play and can give us cover across several key positions.”

He added: “Dan is an extremely physical and strong player and he uses his strength in all areas of his game especially in rebounding both defensive, and offensive. He is mentally strong and shows up ready to play at every game. One of his key attributes is that he is not afraid to do the hard work to help his team win and because of this he is a good fit for the team and should become a real crowd favourite!”

Dan’s signing comes at a time when the Jets playing resources are fully stretched – and they face a weekend with a local derby on Friday on the road at Knowsley against the Mersey Tigers and a home fixture against the Durham Wildcats on Sunday. Dan’s registration has been lodged with the BBL and there is every possibility that he will be able to play in both games.
