A late fourth quarter fight back from the Glasgow Rocks wasn’t enough to recover from a disastrous second quarter as they went down 85-78 against the Cheshire Jets.
Led by Bill Cole and Adam Brown the Jets quickly pulled out a seven point lead in the first quarter before the Rocks pegged them back and the teams traded baskets for the remainder of the period, before it finished 28-23 in favour of the Jets.
A woeful second period shooting display from the Rocks allowed the Jets to blow the game wide open with a 12-0 run and go in at half time leading 49-35.
Another Jets run – this time an 8-0 one – at the start of the third quarter increased the lead to twenty points before some more basket trading saw the Rocks pull the deficit back to fifteen going into the fourth.
Throughout the final period the Rocks slowly chipped away at the lead, applying a full court press to the tired Jets and pulling within six points going into the final minute. The Jets, however, kept their nerve at the free throw line to see the game out and give each team a 2-2 record in the BBL Championship.
