Heat bring back Chi Lewis-Parry

Powerhouse Chi Lewis-Parry has returned to Guildford Heat, almost four years after leaving the club.

Powerhouse Chi Lewis-Parry has returned to Guildford Heat, almost four years after leaving the club.

Lewis-Parry was a valuable member of the Heat squad in 2008, before leaving to join Scottish Rocks, and then putting his basketball career on hold to focus on his fighting career.

Guildford head coach Creon Raftopoulos said: “After the ups and downs that we’ve had this season, I felt it important that we get cover at the forward position. Chi is a great utility player who we can count on at the defensive end, and will contribute to rebounding which is key to our success.”

In his last spell in the BBL, Lewis-Parry averaged 5.5 RPG and 5.9 PPG in 33 appearances.

He said: “Returning to Guildford Heat is like a homecoming for me. I hated the way things were left on my departure in 2008 and wanted to come back and rectify things with Guildford’s wonderfully loyal fans. This time I’ll be here to the end.”

As a competitive fighter, Chi is in great physical shape. On 4 February he will be competing in a professional mixed martial arts show called Cage Rage:UCMMA 26 at The Troxy, Commercial Road, East London which will be broadcast on Sky Sports. His first Guildford Heat home game will be on Sunday 12 February at 3pm against Mersey Tigers.
