Green – I don’t play for individual rewards

Mychal Green has revealed that he doesn’t play basketball for individual rewards, but admitted it is ‘good’ to be praised for his Glasgow Rocks performances this season.

Mychal Green has revealed that he doesn’t play basketball for individual rewards, but admitted it is ‘good’ to be praised for his Glasgow Rocks performances.

Green is leading the way for Glasgow’s MVP this season and he was influential in the recent 85-77 victory over the Newcastle Eagles. The American is waiting until the end of the season before reflecting on his personal campaign though.

Speaking to bblfans.com about being the favourite for player of the year at Glasgow, Green said: “That definitely is satisfying. It is always good to be recognised by others for how well you are playing. I don’t really play for individual rewards though.”

“There are a lot of things that during the season, you really don’t focus on. At the end of the season you can maybe look back and say ‘OK maybe I did have a good year’. During the season it is all about trying to get as many wins as possible and win the Championship.”

Despite not commenting too much on his own game, Green did admit that he was enjoying life in Glasgow and that he is satisfied with how he has played this season.

He continued: “I feel like I have been playing pretty well. I think I have adjusted pretty well to the league. There is always room for improvement though and you always want to do more. I feel confident and I feel comfortable with how I am playing.”

Green will want a big finish to the season of course as Glasgow – who currently sit 5th in the BBL – have now booked their place in the play-offs, but they will want to finish as high as possible before the Championship deciding fixtures.

They are next in action against the Sheffield Sharks on the 13th April 2012.
