Durham guard DJ Glavan admits he is in awe of the Newcastle Eagles ahead of their derby clash on Saturday.
The game comes the night after a pivotal match in the title race, when the Eagles play Leicester Riders.
Glavan joined the Wildcats in December from EBL neighbours Tees Valley Mohawks, and he has been impressed with the league leaders during his time in the BBL.
He said: “The Newcastle Eagles are hands down the best team in the BBL and I absolutely love playing against them. As a competitor, you always want to be the best. In order to be the best, you have to beat the best.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to play against our local rival one more time at home.
“I have so much respect for the Eagles as a professional basketball organization and for player/coach Fabulous Flournoy. He does an amazing job in leading his team and preparing them for opponents every week.”
The Wildcats have won just two of their 22 BBL Championship games so far, while the Eagles have lost just two of their 20 games to date.
