Sheffield Sharks have announced the signing of their first new player for 2012/13, with the capture of point guard Gage Daye.

Mike Tuck became the first name officially on the Sharks roster for next season, and has now been joined by Daye, who played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA Development League last season.

Formerly at Bloomfield College, Daye became their all-time leading points scorer in his senior year.

His former coach at Bloomfield, Gerald Holmes, said: “This is a tremendous opportunity for Gage, and he certainly deserves it.

“He has worked extremely hard to get to this point, and we couldn’t be more proud of him. His is a tremendous player with an outstanding work ethic, and I have no doubt he’ll be successful. We wish him the best of luck and he continues his career at the next level.”

The Sharks’ first game of the new season is against new boys East London Royals on September 21st.
