‘Excellent’ Wolves keep trophy hopes alive

Worcester coach Paul James claimed their defeat of Plymouth was an “excellent win” as they kept themselves firmly in the running for the last four of the BBL Trophy.

Worcester coach Paul James claimed their defeat of Plymouth was an “excellent win” as they kept themselves firmly in the running for the last four of the BBL Trophy.

Richie Gordon scored 22 points as Worcester won 96-85 on Sunday and gain revenge for the 85-62 defeat they had suffered at the hands of the Raiders just a week previously.

James told the club’s official website: “After what happened last week I tried a new starting line-up of Carlos, Tommy, Arnas, Sherrad and Richie. We had better all-round shape and rotation from the bench.

“The team played well, and we made shots that have been missing in other games. This was an excellent win for the Wolves.”

Both Worcester and Plymouth both face Guildford this weekend with a spot in the semi-finals up for grabs.

They are likely to be joined by MK Lions, who need to beat EBL side London Leopards this weekend to ensure their progress, and join Newcastle Eagles and Sheffield Sharks in the last four.
