Newcastle Eagles owner Paul Blake is disappointed to have lost Anthony Thompson this season.
Thompson has moved to French club La Rochelle, but Blake is still confident the Eagles can still go onto achieve success in the BBL.
Blake said: “It would have been great to retain Andy Thompson but the offer on the table was a step too far for us.
“We have got the players we wanted to get in the most part. Defensively they looked like they had been playing together for six months.
“I am really excited. They have settled in really quickly.”
