Durant joins Heat revolution

Guildford have added power forward Shaun Durant to their roster in time for their games against Leicester and Milton Keynes at the weekend.

Guildford have added power forward Shaun Durant to their roster in time for their games against Leicester and Milton Keynes at the weekend.

Durant is no stranger to the BBL having turned out previously for the Riders and Worthing Thunder.

He replaces Hermann Opoku on the Heat bench, after he left to join a club in the Czech Republic earlier in the week.

Durant is Creon Raftopoulos’ second signing this week, following the capture of ex-Glasgow MVP Mike Copeland.

The coach told the club’s official website: “Shaun has signed a week-long contract with Guildford Heat but there is scope for him to join the team permanently if an agreement can be reached.

“He has already trained with us and he brings a great deal of experience in the BBL to Guildford Heat. The departures of Hermann and Kandi have left us with one natural forward, Mike Martin and our new signing, Mike Copeland, will not be in the country until next week. I had to move quickly to secure Shaun Durant and am delighted that he is in the squad for this weekend.”
