Mersey Tigers slumped at the first hurdle in their BBL Championship title defence at home on Friday night, as they fell to a 92-62 defeat against the Glasgow Rocks.

The comprehensive victory for the Glaswegian side means they climb to second in the BBL rankings, trailing Newcastle by two points who overtook Sheffield with an impressive win.

Andrew Wedemire led all scorers racking up 20 points, followed closely by Scottish international Gareth Murray who bagged 19. Murray definitely had the hot hand on the night hitting 5/6 from beyond the 3-point line.
Miles Hesson stepped up for the Tigers as he chipped in with 19 points personal.

The Rocks exploded into the game right from the tip-off gaining a 14-point advantage in the early exchanges. They continued this onslaught to lead by 50-33 at the break.

The gap only increased from there with the score passing the 20-point mark early in the second half at 43-63. The visitors wouldn’t let up as they dominated on their way to victory with the Merseysiders unable to recover.
