Bustamante blow for Mersey

Mersey point guard Gaitain Bustamante looks to have played his last game for the club after returning to Spain.

Mersey point guard Antonio Bustamante looks to have played his last game for the club after returning to Spain.

Bustamante, 27, joined the club in January and made his debut in the defeat against Newcastle Eagles.

He has gone to score 101 points and 51 assists in eight BBL Championship appearances for last season’s treble winners.

The Spaniard missed both Tigers games last weekend, as they were beaten by both Guildford and Cheshire to put a huge dent in their play-off aspirations.

Captain David Aliu is also struggling to be fit for this weekend’s must-win double header against Sheffield and Durham.

Guildford (played 23, won 9) and Milton Keynes (23, 8) currently occupy 7th and 8th spot, with Cheshire (22, 7) two points behind and the Tigers (24, 6) a further two points adrift, although the Liverpool club have played more games than all of their rivals.
