Bridge set to become a Shark

Former Shark Andrew Bridge is expected to resign for the Sheffield side after leaving Newcastle Eagles, according to forward Mike Tuck.

Bridge has been exceptional for the Eagles after leaving Sheffield in 2002, and Tuck believes he would be an excellent addition for the Sharks 10 years later after gaining the experience of winning several pieces of silverware.

Tuck said: “He adds that bit of experience and veteran play to a line up with the young guys that we’ve got.”

Tuck was happy with his side’s performance against the USA Select team, and says new signings Gage Daye and Micah Williams will unsettle some opponents in the BBL when they begin to become more comfortable at the club.

“We’re beginning to gel more as a team now and looked better yesterday than we did at the pre-season tournament in Newcastle last week. They’re getting used to the European style. Friday will be a good test for them.

“Myself and Olu will be doing the majority of he dirty work underneath the basket. But we’re fine with that. It’s something we’re used to.”

The Sharks open their BBL campaign against Leicester Riders.
