Big weekend for Mersey and Eagle chasers all win

Durham were on the wrong end of two heavy defeats over the weekend; beaten 56-86 at home to the Tigers before falling to Guildford this afternoon, 97-59. Martelle McLemore had a game high 26 points for the Heat, who are now two points behind sixth-placed, Sheffield.

It was a poor weekend for the Sharks, having lost at home to Mersey on the Friday, Atiba Lyon’s men were beaten 95-80 by the Worcester Wolves. Tommy Freeman led the way with a game high 30 points.

Worcester were on the road today against Cheshire and recorded an emphatic 65-94 victory. They tighten their grip on second place although the Plymouth Raiders are six points behind with three games in hand.

The Devon based side bounced back from the disappointment of losing in the BBL Trophy final to pick up a crucial win in Glasgow. Anthony Rowe stole the show with an impressive double-double of 20 points and 20 rebounds in his side’s 60-71 success.

On the Saturday, Ayron Hardy continued to improve his MVP credentials with another impressive showing for the Leicester Riders. The American posted 20 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals as the Riders saw off the threat of their rivals, MK Lions in an 88-71 win.

The race for the play-offs continues with Guildford taking a considerable step to sealing their spot while the Lions are being chased down by Mersey and Cheshire.
