Big weekend for Lions

Milton Keynes face a pivotal weekend in the BBL as they look to consolidate their play-off berth.

They face tricky matches against the teams currently second and third in the league table, Worcester and Leicester.

The Lions are currently tied for sixth on seven wins with Sheffield, but could be looking over their shoulder at the likes of Cheshire, Guildford and Mersey should they lose both games this weekend.

Forward Robert Youngblood said: “We’re getting ready for a big weekend against sides in second and third spots. It we can win both we’d be back to a 50 percent record.

“We’re still struggling with injuries, but we’re hoping that at least one of the players who missed last week will be ready for this week.”

The Lions went down at Cheshire last weekend, and face a Riders side who have won 11 of their last 14 games on Friday night.

They then back that up with a trip to high-flying Worcester on Saturday, to face a Wolves team buoyed by last weekend’s superb 100-80 win over Plymouth.

Coach Mike New added: “This is definitely a tough weekend playing against two of the top teams back to back, but we are ready to play and look forward to seeing both of these teams.”
