The new British Basketball League season will get underway on September 21st, with the fixtures due out next week.

At present, 13 teams are expected to line-up in the new campaign, playing each other in the league three times, either twice at home or once away, or vice-versa. The regular season is scheduled to end on the 7th April 2013 ahead of the play-offs.

The BBL Cup will remain as the first piece of available silverware, and Newcastle, Leicester and Worcester have been granted byes through the first round of that competition having finished in the top three last season.

There is a change of format, however, for the BBL Trophy, which will now take place in the second half of the season, and revert back to being a straight knockout competition, with the 13 BBL teams being joined by three clubs from outside of the league.

Some important dates for your diary – the BBL Cup Final will take place at the NIA in Birmingham on Sunday 13th January 2013, with the play-off final taking place on Sunday 28th April 2013.
