If you haven’t already signed up to the BBL Fantasy League head over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and create a team, each squad requires 3 Forwards, 3 Guards and 1 Centre and you have a limit of 2 players from each team and a total of 27 ‘Stars’, each player has a star rating ranging from 1 to 5 stars.
For example Andrew Sullivan of the Leicester Riders is a 5 star whereas Tommy Freeman is a mere 3 stars, this week BBL Fans bring you our picks of who you should be selecting in your Fantasy Squad.
This weekend games start Friday at 19:30 when the Newcastle Eagles take on the MK Lions.
Saturday 5 November 2011 see’s the Durham Wildcats against the Cheshire Jets as well as the Guildford Heat versus Leicester Riders.
Sunday 6 November 2011 at 17:30 will see the Cheshire Jets play the Glasgow Rocks and the MK Lions go up against the Guildford Heat.
Forward – Ayron Hardy – The BBL October Player of the Month has been averaging 18.2 points and 9 rebounds so far this season for the Riders while shooting an outstanding 67.9% from 2 point field goals. His Riders will be going up against a Guildford Heat squad who have currently not won a game and that may continue for yet another week. In his last Championship game Hardy had a solid double-double finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Ayron provides good value for his price, here is a mere 3 stars compared with Andrew Sullivan’s 5.
Forward – Andrew Sullivan – For those of you looking to splash out on one big signing, Andrew Sullivan may be your best bet, he is averaging 22 points per game and 9 rebounds across 3 games so far and had 20 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in his sides BBL Cup victory last weekend. With Sullivan in the line-up the Riders are yet to lose a game.
Forward – Tayo Ogendengbe – He put up 27 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists on Sunday against the Cheshire Jets and is on target to achieve 1000 career points if he can manage to score just 20 points this coming weekend, with two games against the Riders and Jets im sure he will be able to make the milestone.
Centre – Arnas Kazlauskas – The Worcester Wolves centre had a double-double in his sides 88 – 77 BBL Cup victory over the Guildford Heat finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds, he also dished out 5 assists, an impressive stat line for a guy his size.
Guard – Elmer (E.J) Harrison – E.J Harrison of the Glasgow Rocks has been on fire recently, in the Rocks victory over the Edinburgh Kings he finished with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists unfortunately he doesn’t come cheap (4 star rating) but his all-around game will provide a buck load of points in Fantasy Basketball.
Guard – Tommy Freeman – The Worcester Wolves guard is hitting his stride right on time, with his squad having won their last 4 games, in their BBL Cup win over the Guildford Heat he had 18 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists and in their Saturday victory he also had 22 points, converting on 10/10 free throws while adding 4 rebounds.
Guard – Mychal Green – Another Glasgow Rocks guard on this squad, Green is currently the top points scorer in the BBL Fantasy Challenge and shows no signs of slowing down, in his sides Cup victory Green finished with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists and although Cup and Trophy games do not count toward your overall score it’s still a positive to see a player excel the way Green has done recently.
Questionable –
If you don’t agree with our above selections here are 5 more players you should consider this weekend.
Forward – Mike Copeland – A lot of BBL players have had solid debut’s for new clubs this season, including Andrew Sullivan’s 30 point, 8 rebound outing and Jeremy Bells 17 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds for the Raiders against the Wildcats this past weekend. Look for Mike to continue the trend in two games this weekend
Forward – Andrew Thomson – The Eagle forward had 25 points and 16 rebounds this past weekend in a close win over the One Health Sheffield Sharks. He has been more than solid so far this season and comes at a relatively bargain cost of 3 stars.
Centre – Matthew Schneck – Cheshire Jets centre Matthew Schneck has contributed well over the Jets first two championship games so far, averaging 17.5 points and 15.5 he has also adds 1.5 assists on the down-side he missed 8 free-throws in a loss to the Leicester Riders.
Guard – Martelle Mclemore – Although they are yet to win a game, Martelle is my 3rd Heat player on this list, he is currently sitting at 7th overall in Fantasy Points scored at 58 after contributing 17 points and 8 rebounds in a loss to the Cheshire Jets, after a shake-up in Surrey im sure the Heat will be able to rack up a win this weekend.
Guard – Joe Chapman – Currently ranked joint 3rd in overall fantasy points with 64, the Newcastle Eagles guard has averaged 24 points, 4 assists and 2.5 rebounds over his last two Championship games, but oh which came against a strong Sheffield Sharks squad.
Drop –
Kandi Mukole – Kandi has been officially released from the Guildford Heat due to recent struggles.
Hermann Opoku – Hermann has also been released from the Heat following an offer to compete at the top level in the Czech Republic.
Those are our tips for this weekend in BBL Fantasy Basketball, so head on over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and make any changes necessary, see you next week for the next BBL Fantasy Basketball Weekend Preview.
