BBL Fantasy Basketball – Weekend Preview: Nov 19/20th

The Championship gets in to full swing this weekend with six matches, so with that in mind, Sam Chadwick tells us who you should have in your BBL fantasy team.

If you haven’t already signed up to the BBL Fantasy League head over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and create a team, each squad requires 3 Forwards, 3 Guards and 1 Centre and you have a limit of 2 players from each team and a total of 23 ‘Stars’, each player has a star rating ranging from 1 to 5 stars this week BBL Fans bring you our picks of who you should be selecting in your Fantasy Squad.

This weekend games sees the Championship really get into full swing with 6 games across 3 days, they all start Friday 18 November 2011 at 19:30 when the Mersey Tigers take on Worcester Wolves while One Health Sharks Sheffield play Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders.

On Saturday 19 November 2011 Durham Wildcats go up against the Glasgow Rocks, Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders match up with the Mersey Tigers and Worcester Wolves play UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders

Sunday 20 November 2011 has just 1 game with the Cheshire Jets against the in-form Newcastle Eagles.

Here are our weekends Fantasy Picks;

Forward – David Aliu – Mersey Tigers play 2 games this weekend compared with other who play just one; therefore the chance of more points is high. He finished the Tigers last game with 18 points and 5 rebounds in a loss to the Worcester Wolves.

Forward – Colin O’Reiley – Colin and the Cheshire Jets go up against the currently undefeated Newcastle Eagles this weekend looking to make an upset, Colin is averaging 24 fantasy points per game and is the 4th highest fantasy points scorer so far this season.

Forward – Andrew Sullivan – If you want a high cost, guaranteed points player look no further than Andrew Sullivan, with a cost of 5 stars, his fantasy value of 15.5 fantasy points per game makes him a solid pick up, with a tough match-up with the Sharks look for the GB captain to step up and lead his team this weekend.

Centre – Darius Defoe – The Newcastle Eagle’s centre has been impressive as of late, finishing with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steal against the Lions at the beginning of the month. If you take out his bad game against the Sharks (-3) then he has an average of 19 fantasy points per game. He also costs just three, stars… less than 2 of the 3 centres ahead of him. This will be a battle between Darius and Matthew Schneck to prove who the top centre in this league is.

Guard – Sherrad Prezzie-Blue –The Wolves are the only other team with 2 games this weekend and Sherrad Prezzie-Blue is one of the best players on that Wolves team unfortunately his BBL Fantasy stats just don’t match up with his player stats, despite finishing with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal against the Wildcats he scored just 5 fantasy points, look for that to improve against the Raiders and Tigers.

Guard – Cameron Rundles – Cameron had two solid games this past weekend finishing with 13 points on 80% field goal shooting to go with 3 rebounds against the London Leopards and then leading his team with 24 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds in his sides BBL Cup victory over the Cheshire Jets.

Guard – Mychal Green – The absence of E.J. Harrison has allowed Mychal to become even more of a scoring force as of last finishing with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the Rocks last game against the Sheffield Sharks.

Questionable –

If you don’t agree with our above selections here are 5 more players you should consider this weekend.

Forward – Andrew Thomson – Currently the top point’s scorer for the best team in the league, with a total of 95 points and an average of 24 fantasy points per game, his 3 star price tag is relatively good value and his team go up against the Jets this Sunday.

Forward – Bill Cole – Another Jet you may say, and yes Bill Cole will look to take on the Eagles this weekend, but Bill has scored at least 20 fantasy points in his last 3 games, look for him to continue that ran as his underdog jets hunt for a win.

Centre – Richie Gordon – An impressive stat line in his sides 91 – 62 victory over the Mersey Tigers, Richie finished with 27 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists on 76% field goal shooting, in his sides BBL Championship game he added another solid line of 12 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists on route to 19 fantasy points.

Guard – Ralph Bucci – Ralph and his Wildcats will take on the Rocks this weekend, in his two fantasy games so far he is averaging 31 fantasy points per game and it the 8th guard overall, with the Rocks missing E.J. Harrison look for him to take advantage.

Guard – Danny Huffor – In two Rocks games without E.J. Harrison, Danny has averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds including a 10 points and 9 rebounds stat line the Newcastle Eagles and 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists against the Sharks.

Drop –

For the next few weekend drop anyone from the Guildford Heat, they won’t play for the entire month and will look a lot different when they return in December.

Those are our tips for this weekend in BBL Fantasy Basketball, so head on over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and make any changes necessary, see you next week for the next BBL Fantasy Basketball Weekend Preview.
