BBL Fantasy Basketball: Weekend Preview 3rd-5th Feb

Sam Chadwick casts his eye over the BBL once again as he picks out the players you need to have in your Fantasy BBL line-up for this weekend.

If you haven’t already signed up to the BBL Fantasy League head over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and create a team, each squad requires 3 Forwards, 3 Guards and 1 Centre and you have a limit of 2 players from each team and a total of 23 ‘Stars’, each player has a star rating ranging from 1 to 5 stars this week BBL Fans bring you our picks of who you should be selecting in your Fantasy Squad.

This weekend sees just a handful of BBL Championship games as the BBL Trophy come into play with the Semi-Finals. In total just 4 Championship games with no teams playing more than once.

Friday has the Mersey Tigers hosting the Cheshire Jets these two have very similar results and are sitting at 10th & 9th in the table respectively.

On Saturday the Leicester Riders host the Sheffield Sharks while the league’s top two teams (Eagles) face off in Worcester.

Sunday again has just one game of action with the Guildford Heat making the long trip up North of the border to take on the Glasgow Rocks.

Here are our weekends Fantasy Picks;

Forward – Andrew Sullivan – After a slow December & early January Andrew has started to return to form averaging 18 fantasy points per game over the past 3 and helping the Riders to a 2 win, 1 loss record. This weekend could see the Leicester side move above the Raiders for 3rd place.

Forward – Gareth Murray – With a cost of just 3 stars Gareth is by no way expensive, so he does bring good value for price averaging a total of 17.87 fantasy points per game including a season high 37 point fantasy game where he score 26 points, dished out 4 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds.

Forward – David Aliu – The Mersey Tigers have a chance to move above the Cheshire Jets and move towards the playoffs, David will do all he can to make sure the Tigers come away with the win in front of the home fan’s.

Centre – Matthew Schneck – Despite missing 3 games Matthew is still the 3rd best centre from a fantasy perspective and is averaging an impressive 22.64 fantasy points per game. With the Jets travelling to Mersey Matthew will look to dominate the Tigers from the inside.

Guard – Mychal Green – Danny Huffor continues to impress with his scoring but Mychal’s ability to do a little bit of everything makes me stick with him, he contributes points, rebounds, assists, steals. He is currently averaging 24 fantasy points per game as the league’s 3rd overall fantasy performer.

Guard – Nate Reinking – The Sharks managed to defeat the Wolves last week without Nate in the Line-Up however he is a vital part of the team averaging 18.4 fantasy points per game. This week they look to down another title contender when they take on the Leicester Riders.

Guard – Martelle Mclemore – Last time the Heat took on the Rocks, Martelle had his second best fantasy outing of the season with 22 fantasy points, he 21points and 4 rebounds but committed5 fouls. Hopefully this weekend will see him produce a similar stat-line (excluding the fouls).

Questionable –

If you don’t agree with our above selections here are 3 more players you should consider this weekend.

Forward – Tayo Ogedengbe – Out of the Heat’s forwards I have chosen Tayo for two reasons; 1 he comes in at 3 stars compared to Mike Martins 5, and 2 when these sides last met, Mike scored 0 fantasy points while Tayo racked up 21.

Centre – Richie Gordon – Always a good player to have in your squad is Richie Gordon, he is currently the league’s highest scoring fantasy basketball player with an average of 25.56 fantasy points per game. Last time the top two teams faced Richie finished with an impressive 37 fantasy points.

Guard – Cameron Rundles – Nate Reinking is one of the league’s best guards, but so is Cameron and the Riders having home court advantage he may have the upper-hand. In addition Cameron comes with a much lower price-tag (3 stars to Nate’s 5 stars)

Drop –

MK Lions & Plymouth Raiders players – These teams play twice this weekend, in the BBL Trophy therefore we recommend you use their spaces to play players who actually have games.

Those are our tips for this weekend in BBL Fantasy Basketball, so head on over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and make any changes necessary, see you next week for the next BBL Fantasy Basketball Weekend Preview.
