BBL Fantasy Basketball: Weekend Preview 27th-29th Jan

Sam Chadwick offers his advice on who should be in and out of your Fantasy BBL ahead of a weekend that features eight Championship games.

If you haven’t already signed up to the BBL Fantasy League head over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and create a team, each squad requires 3 Forwards, 3 Guards and 1 Centre and you have a limit of 2 players from each team and a total of 23 ‘Stars’, each player has a star rating ranging from 1 to 5 stars this week BBL Fans bring you our picks of who you should be selecting in your Fantasy Squad.

One heck of a weekend see’s a total of 8 BBL Championship games played between now and Sunday with the action starting tonight at 19:30 when Prestige Homes MK Lions take on the Durham Wildcats, Newcastle Eagles host Mersey Tigers and Sheffield Sharks look to return to winning ways taking on 2nd place Worcester Wolves.
Saturday has just two games with the Durham Wildcats playing on consecutive nights, this time against the Cheshire Jets while the Leicester Riders host the Glasgow Rocks.

A 15:00 tip off between the Guildford Heat and Prestige Homes MK Lions starts Sunday’s action while 16:00 sees the Plymouth Raiders play Glasgow Rocks and at 17:30 the Cheshire Jets take on the Leicester Riders.

Here are our weekends Fantasy Picks;

Forward – Andrew Sullivan – Andrew seems to have returned to stat-sheet filling form posting two double-double last weekend including 13 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals against the Mersey Tigers while against the MK Lions he posted 12 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

Forward – Bill Cole – Despite the return of Matthew Schneck, Bill’s numbers continue to impress in their two losses last weekend he averaged 16 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3 blocks per game. The main positive of his play is that blocks count for two fantasy points and recently his defence has been outstanding.

Forward – Demarius Bolds – When he is playing twice in one weekend you can’t really leave Demarius off a Fantasy Basketball list, last weekend he had 5 steals against the Riders, one of the league’s top teams, alongside 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. He continues to lead the BBL in scoring with 25.2 points per game.

Centre – Matthew Schneck – He looks 100% over his injury, especially when looking at his statistics, over two games last weekend he scored 45 points combined, grabbed 21 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. From a fantasy standpoint he averaged 22 fantasy points per game.

Guard – Mychal Green –With E.J.Harrison still out the Rocks continue to trust in Green for almost everything, last weekend he delivered on a little bit of everything finishing with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and a block.

Guard – Mike Capocci – The Wildcats have one of the best back courts when looking at fantasy basketball production, Mike is 12th overall and the 4th guard last weekend he went off on the league leaders to the tune of 27 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal, with two games this weekend look for him to pad those stats.

Guard – Ralph Bucci – Nothing to fear Ralph Bucci is here! The league’s 5th best player from a fantasy point’s perspective sees his Wildcats take on the MK Lions and Cheshire Jets for two games in two days. Last weekend his team nearly toppled the league leaders while Ralph dished out 10 assists, grabbed 5 rebounds and dropped 11 points.

Questionable –

If you don’t agree with our above selections here are 3 more players you should consider this weekend.

Forward – Ayron Hardy – The Riders do-it-all forward contributed 11 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 2 assists last Friday against the Tigers Saturday saw him score 20 points to go with 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals against the lions.

Centre – Matthew Schneck – After returning from injury Matthew has now had even more time to recover and will look to add to his averages of a double-double, the league’s leading rebounder prior to injury and among the league leaders in both points & stats it’s safe to say you can position Matt back in your fantasy squads from here on out.

Guard – Adam Brown – Adam stepped it up a notch statistically following the injury to Matthew Schneck, in two games last weekend Adam finished with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists against the Raiders & 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists against the Wolves.

Drop –

Justin Dobbins – Managed to play just 9 minutes against the Eagles on Friday.

Paul Gause – Recently departed from Mersey for Icelandic side Keflavik http://www.bblfans.com/2012/mersey-tigers/kris-douse-leaves-mersey-tigers.html
