BBL Fantasy Basketball: Weekend Preview 16th-18th March

We’re getting towards the business end of the season, so picking the right players in your Fantasy BBL team could be crucial. Sam Chadwick casts his eye over this week’s ins and outs.

If you haven’t already signed up to the BBL Fantasy League head over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and create a team, each squad requires 3 Forwards, 3 Guards and 1 Centre and you have a limit of 2 players from each team and a total of 23 ‘Stars’, each player has a star rating ranging from 1 to 5 stars this week BBL Fans bring you our picks of who you should be selecting in your Fantasy Squad.

This weekend has a total of 6 BBL Championship games across Friday and Sunday while the BBL Trophy Final Leg 1 Tip’s off on Sunday at 16:00.

Friday night see’s the Mersey Tigers face off with the Guildford Heat, Trophy Finalists Newcastle Eagles taking on contenders Leicester Riders while the other Trophy Finalists Plymouth Raiders host the Cheshire Jets.

On Sunday the Leicester Riders continue their road-trip to the injury ridden Glasgow Rocks, The Cheshire Jets host local rivals the Mersey Tigers and the MK Lions and Sheffield Sharks battle for play-off position.

Here are our weekends Fantasy Picks;

Forward – Ayron Hardy – The current Race to M.V.P leader plays twice this weekend pretty much doubling his value, his play against the Eagles will be incredibly important if they want to challenge the current league leaders while their Sunday night game against the Glasgow Rocks should be equally important as the Riders cannot afford to lose again this season.

Forward – Gareth Murray – With the Rocks missing a key player in Mychal Green someone will need to step up, the likelihood is it will either be Gareth Murray or Sterling Davis, my money is on Gareth but it’s your fantasy team and it’s your decision. Gareth is 9th overall this month among forwards scoring 55 fantasy points so far.

Forward – Mike Tuck – With a fantasy average of 19.05 points per game is clear to see why Mike is among the league leaders in a majority of statistical categories. In his sides game against the Tigers Mike went off for 48 fantasy points including 14 rebounds and 33 points.

Centre – Matthew Schneck – The Jets play twice this weekend and Matthew will look to continue his double-double averages, currently sitting at 16.9 points and 10.8 rebounds in addition Matt is averaging just over 20 fantasy points per game so far this season.

Guard – Danny Huffor – he has been a solid replacement for the missing E.J Harrison and Mychal Green, he is scoring at a high rate and has averages a block over the past few outings along with 21 fantasy point per games over the last two. Danny is the highest player with a star rank of below 3.

Guard – Cameron Rundles – Another Rider among the league leaders in both points 18.8 and assists 4.7, he also grab’s a reasonable amount of rebounds for a guard with 3.9 per game averages. Look for his run of solid games to continue this weekend against the Eagles and Rocks. Don’t forget Cameron is extremely good value with a price tag of just 3 stars.

Guard – Adam Brown – One of the league’s top guards plays twice this weekend, going up against both the Raiders and Tigers, his averages of 19.1 points, 4.1 assists and 2.2 steals will be an important factor if his team hopes to make the playoffs. His Fantasy averages of 19.75 fantasy points per game are among the league’s leaders at a price of just 3 stars.

Questionable –

If you don’t agree with our above selections here are 3 more players you should consider this weekend.

Forward – Tayo Ogedengbe – Consistently good in all areas, Tayo comes in at solid fantasy value with a cost of 3 stars, his Heat face off against the Mersey Tigers Friday at 19:30 in what could be a make-or break match-up for playoff position, if the Heat want to win they will need Tayo & the rest of the team to step it up a notch.

Centre – Paul Williams – Despite his team playing Sunday in the Trophy Final, Paul will look to extend his recent double-double run by going hard against the Jets on Friday night, he has double-doubles in the last 8 games including a 19 point 19 rebound outing against the Eagles and a 20 point, 20 rebound game verses the Durham wildcats .

Guard – Ryan Patton – Across six games so far for the Sharks, Ryan is averaging 16.8 fantasy points per game at a cost of 4 stars when his side last met the Lions he finished with 18 fantasy points and his team got the win.

Drop –

Mychal Green (knee) looks to be out for the foreseeable future.
