BBL Fantasy Basketball: Weekend Preview 13th-15th Jan

It’s BBL Cup Final weekend, but the league action doesn’t stop, and Mersey Tigers’ David Aliu is among Sam Chadwick’s picks in his weekly Fantasy BBL weekend preview.

If you haven’t already signed up to the BBL Fantasy League head over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and create a team, each squad requires 3 Forwards, 3 Guards and 1 Centre and you have a limit of 2 players from each team and a total of 23 ‘Stars’, each player has a star rating ranging from 1 to 5 stars this week BBL Fans bring you our picks of who you should be selecting in your Fantasy Squad.

This weekend sees a total of just 3 games due to the BBL Cup Final at the NIA, Birmingham on Sunday.

Tonight has the Mersey Tigers looking to hold back the Worcester while the One Health Sharks Sheffield tries to stop the Guildford Heat who have been on fire as of late.

Saturday hosts just one game when Worcester Wolves play for the second time in 2 days, going up against the Durham Wildcats.

The final day of the weekends sees 4 games starting with the Plymouth Raiders against the Mersey Tigers with a 4pm tip, MK Lions play front runners the Newcastle Eagles, while the Guildford Heat look to make a winning streak with a game against the Cheshire Jets.

Here are our weekends Fantasy Picks;

Forward – David Aliu – Aliu is one of the league’s most consistent players, he is a statistical pick thanks to his ability to contribute from every-where on the court including points, blocks, rebounds and assists.

Forward – David Watts – ‘Tin-Tin’ is quietly playing as one of the most consistent forwards on one of the league’s best teams, his total of 129 fantasy points is good for 48th overall. With the lack of forwards playing this weekend and with David having two games look for his numbers to be positive.

Forward – Tayo Ogedengbe – The Heat continue to collect wins in 2012 and its started as a good year, Tayo scored 32 points last weekend while adding 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals, this weekend Tayo will be one of the league’s top performing forwards.

Centre – Richie Gordon – Richie has proved that he is one of the BL’s top centres in recent weeks and with two games this weekend he comes with the best fantasy value. He is currently 3rd overall in total fantasy points with just over 300 while he also leads all centres.

Guard – Sherrad Prezzie-Blue – With Tommy Freeman banned for the weekends first game against the Mersey Tigers thanks to two unsportsmanlike fouls in the recent game against the Leicester Riders, in his place look for Sherrad to fill the roll and contribute well both scoring and assisting.

Guard – Martelle Mclemore – The Heat have been on a role recently, mainly thanks to solid team effort from the likes of Tayo, Julius Joseph and Martelle, this weekend I’m picking Martelle to exceed statistically.

Guard – Ralph Bucci – Despite playing for one of the league’s worst performing teams, Ralph Bucci continues to be a bright-spot on the horizon, he is currently 5th overall in fantasy points and will look to guide his team to victory Saturday against the Wolves.

Questionable –

If you don’t agree with our above selections here are 3 more players you should consider this weekend, there are only three this week due to the small number of games being played.

Forward – Myles Hesson – The season continues to be a roller-coaster for the young Myles, last weekend he contributed just 6 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in the Tigers loss to the Lions then had another quite night Sunday against the Plymouth Raiders. With his stats being all over the place he can be a good pick-up on a good night.

Centre – Mario Flaherty – Over the last three games Mario has averaged 15 fantasy points, 14.3 points per game and 8.3 rebounds, this weekend his Wildcats look to move up from the bottom of the league when they face to Worcester Wolves.

Guard – Callum Jones– Currently sitting as the 3rd guard on his team look for Callum to step-up this weekend with the missing Tommy Freeman, we saw what happened in Glasgow when E.J. Harrison went down… Danny Huffor took on the load, Look for Jones to do the same.

Those are our tips for this weekend in BBL Fantasy Basketball, so head on over to http://www.bbl.org.uk/?fantasy,1075 and make any changes necessary, see you next week for the next BBL Fantasy Basketball Weekend Preview.
